Sort it out!
Every year there are some clubs that decide that they can screw the system and try and get away without paying their fees for racing. This year is no exception, and we are publishing the list below in the hope that everyone understands that no-payment of dues leads to a load of hassle and work for the committee and puts in jepody the financial stability of the Club! Some of these are outstanding for the WHOLE season! Enough! Pay up now!
Saturday 27 February, 2010 - NOW COMPLETED!
Collegiates will be held at Swadlincote (which is sno-flex) and open to all teams, standard format of individual with all competitors getting two runs (if there's enough time), followed by a triple slalom, the winning mixed team will get an extra team into the finals on a wild card entry, followed by a big air/slope style competition.
Attention everyone!
We're looking for the next "intake"! If there's anyone who'd like to become an official for next year... WE NEED TO HEAR FROM YOU! We need people from all leagues to volunteer, so PLEASE if you've had fun racing, or you just fancy a spell at waving the flags, please speak to one of the officials at the next round and give them your details. You'll find their details in the contacts section too - so email us!

Millions of people travel to holiday resorts each year and these visitors can make a real difference to destinations – both good and bad. By following responsible tourism practices we can help protect the natural environment, traditions and culture – the things that make holidays special!!
We can improve the well being of local communities by spreading the benefit of each visit to those who really need it. Managing tourism in a responsible way can help ensure that there are great places for us all to visit – for generations to come.
Responsible tourism is about making a positive difference when we travel:
- Enjoying ourselves and taking responsibility for our actions - respecting local cultures and the natural environment
- Giving fair economic returns to local people – helping to spread the benefit of our visit to those who need it most
- Recognising that water and energy are precious resources that we need to use carefully.
- Protecting endangered wildlife and preserving the natural and cultural heritage of the places we visit for the future enjoyment of visitors and the people who live there.

This bit is usually quite repetitive... if you've read it once, it doesn't change! That's the nature of history I guess. Anyway... it all started at Kings College, London in 1978/79. Kings owes its existance mostly to the enthusiasm of a guy called Chris Franklin. Chris's single-minded aim throughout his student career was finding ways of getting groups together to go skiing on snow... a task made difficult while subsisting on grant money and part-time work around the Union in Surrey Street. However Chris was nothing if not enterprising... with a particularly charming personality and the amazing ability to be able to sell ice to Eskimos! Useful when you need a few paying mates to generate a free place for an impoverished snow-lover!
A question we get asked from time to time is "How do I become an official"? The answer is that you need to have been a member of an affiliated team and raced regularly in the leagues for at least a full year. After taht, and having seen the task being carried out... have a word with one of the officials in your own league - and volunteer! Okay... you've taken the first step, and now there's a small surgical proceedure... no, not really :-)
