Kings Western League have nick-named themselves the Great Western League having won 5 of the Last 8 National Titles. The region which covers Wales and the South West of England has been dominated by Bristol University Ski Club which is the most successful Club in Kings Ski Club 30 year History.
We tend to have a generally more high spirited approach to ski racing with fancy dress present throughout the rounds, extra credit being awarded for nudity, tom foolery and legendary après ski events.
All races are currently held at Pontypool Dry Ski Centre in South East Wales, this is an excellent venue for Dual slalom and so far the tree on the red course has caused no trouble. In the last 2 seasons the Western has been the closest league with Swansea, Cardiff, Exeter, Bath and UWE all winning Rounds and Plymouth choosing to specialise in the Social Events. Skiers and Snowboarders of all standards participate from national team members to snow-ploughers. The races tend to draw a large number of rowdy spectators adding to the already electric atmosphere.
